My mom bought a cockteil when i was 9 I was homeschooled til i was 15 now i have 2 cockateils because the first bird got lonely I thought every bird was the same or simular HA I reacued a quaker parrot that appartnly was mated to a sun conure The wuaker got depressed so i went back and got her mate Quaker parrot became Perry and she is my buddie with a very strong attitude but loves to dance and play and mimics my voice not to loud about the same as the cockateil The sun conure screamed for 6 hours a day. I worked nightshift and never could sleep it was hell for 5 years i had her Now before you freak out she had a seizure when i took her to the vet i was told she had a nerological provlem try to give her best life she can have theres not really anything he can do She passed in augest of 2023 To get to it do your research, sun conures scream, they sqeech and they are jealous she has bitten my fiance a number of times and would fly to attack him My other birds never did that Do research, watch this lady. Ask yourself how much time can i devote to a bird. Never have a dog or cat in the same room as the bird while the bird is out for playtime accidents happen in and out of play animals are unpredictable I to this day house the quaker and cockateil tovether im diwn to 2 birds and the cockateil is started to show her age a bit shes a older bird All mine are rescues i highly recommend going to a rescue and bonding with a bird before beinging it home or going to a breeder that hand feeds Pet stores they are not handled enough and you wont get that same closeness that you crave I highly recommend not clipping their wings, unless well their attacking your partner Research research research and ask yourself how much noise can i tolerate because some birds is a infant crying for hours at a high pitch for hours at a time or like my quaker its the pccasional come here and bird calls to get attention Try to be smart and really think about it first

I have a 20-year-old female Sun Conure, and I have a female Quaker Parrot who lived for 19 years. I seriously lucked out because they never would make continuous noise. I feel like the lone ranger because most people with sun conures always say how loud they are and mine is quiet. Yes, she may have a couple of moments here and there where she squawks but it lasts a minute at most. Loudness can really just refer to the volume of the sounds a parrot can make. When it comes to the overall noisiness of a parrot, I think it can be broken down into two factors: volume (loudness) and duration (how often or how much of the day they vocalize) I grew up with Budgerigars, and while their sounds were lower in volume compared to my Quaker and Sun, the duration was more continuous throughout the day. 95% of the day consisted of their constant chatter LOL! My sun conure may squawk at a higher volume, but the duration is not continuous at all.

i had 2 Cockatiels 6 years ago and when one died the other cockatiel missed her so much that he died or i dont know. Is that natural

I just changed a bunch of perches in my conures cage Ive had them for only 3 weeks and I learned from your channel what is appropriate for them. Well tonight for the first time they have not gone to sleep and its 11:00pm at night! Could they be upset about the change in their cage?

Hi Sophie, my question is in a way not related to the topic of this video, but not completely. Lately I have found one of those porous balls you have in one of your toys, and they are curious of and like trying to bit into it. I got them a fountain a while ago, and whe tried to make the fountain coirner as interesting as possible, including that ball with twine balls and cuttlebone pieces, trying to intice them to play with the water. But I'm now at the point of desperation: they will avoid the fountain! They go near the toys sometimes, but they point blank, both of them, refuse to go near the water. Knowing how much they like to be sprayed, I have at this point ran out of options... I make their toys myself, including the stuff they love, but even though the fountain is surrounded of interesting things they will not go near the water. Do you have any tips? I wish you dedicated one video to water.

Would placing a 120 hrz tv(that is turned on pretty often) about 12 feet away from their cage work ? Great video!

Id say most GCC are relatively quiet, as far as having one goes, and not that expensive at all compared to other birds their size and bigger. A big bag of pellets lasts quite a long time and shared fruit ain't that expensive. A general annual check up at the vet is what it is and I don't typically have labs done and monitor his weight myself. About the only expensive thing was that I bought was a Celltei bird backpack so I can take him on my bike rides and let him fly around in the field. As far as poopy, they do poop a lot, but he has his couple areas where there's cardboard underneath that he poops at like 80% of the time and he knows where he can an can't hang out, but he does try and test my patience on that occasionally. GCC are indeed nippy birds, too, especially if they get excited. If I play around with my bird in a certain way, like sneaking my hand up to him, I can expect to get bit, but usually he's pretty good- they will bite, though.

I cared for my mothers Sun Conure and he kinda made me not want to keep any birds in the future 😂. His was extremely loud and he would literally fly at and attack people. I had a love/hate relationship with him. I was considering getting a cockatiel but now im not so sure.
